A JOURNEY IN GRAPHIC DESIGN
Customise a WordPress site
Customise a WorpPress site, using various “hacks”.
Working with WordPress
In this Learning Activity we created our own WordPress portfolio page at our website.
MA08 – Part 3 – Packaging
Introduction Using the logo you created in Week 1 and the brochure you designed in Week 2, think about your brand and design packaging for your product. Caci Organic Puppy Food is a dog food specially developed for puppies, and comes in a range of products, depending on breed. It is packaged in a rectangular…
MA08 – Part 2 – Illustration, Infographic and Brochure
The brochure design and infographic illustration should work together. Consider the format and style of your brochure and illustrate an infographic using fictitious data (or you could do research to get a better idea of actual statistics)
MA08 – Part 1 – Create a Logo
The first part of this Mandatory Assignment was to come up with a name for a dog food product, and creating a logo for said product, by exploring, sketching and twisting the brain.
Web Design Process – Planning the Structure
For this Learning Activity we wrote down the structure of the webpage design we did in a previous Learning Activity.
Studio Lighting

A selection of 10 photographs, displaying composition rules.
Web Design Process – Put thought into your design
This week’s learning activity was quite big. We were asked to design a website with five pages for our local area, which in my case is Nes in Viken.
Design for screen: Design different looks
For this week’s assignment, we had to find a website, use that website’s content, and redesign it with three different looks.
Providing your own hosting service
This post will be short, because there really isn’t that much to write about this. This mandatory learning activity is important for future web design projects, so we needed a host.
Creating a Wireframe
Before I could start to lay out the website design, I had to ask a few questions to the client (me). For a couple of years I have been using a modified WordPress theme for my portfolio, but now that I’m studying graphic design I can see that it’s lacking.
Getting the basics right
Let’s explain a few things first The internet The internet is a gigantic global network of millions and billions of computers and other devices that connect to the internet. Your computer connects to an ISP (internet service provider), then the ISP may connect to a larger network. A “backbone” is connecting many networks in a…
Print preparation
For this semester’s final Learning Activity we learned about printing and all the things we had to consider before sending our work to the press. We also delved deep into the process of making a magazine layout, and preparing it for print.
Mandatory Assignment 03 – Layout
The final Mandatory Assignment for the first semester was Layout. We were handed a text and a few images, and asked to make a cook book(let) for Opplysningskontoret for Egg og Kjøtt (Matprat). This is my final product:
Layout II – Travel Brochure
For the final Learning Activity of this double week, we were going to use all we had learned to make a travel brochure.
Layout I – Composition
This reflective journal entry will put four learning activities together, because they are all about composition. I will use what I’ve learned in these activities to make a brochure, which you can read about in Layout II.
Exposure Basics II – Practical Assignment
For the final part of this assignment I was asked to take 5 pictures for 5 days, for a total of 25 pictures (somehow I ended up with 488). Then I had to choose 6 of these, which was an impossible task!
Exposure Basics I – Observation and Analysis
During this Graphic Design course there will be a lot of photography assignments, so to begin it all I will show the button layout of my Nikon D3200 camera, and how to set the ISO, aperture and shutter speed.
