A homepage for Nes kommune
This week’s learning activity was quite big. We were asked to design a website with five pages for our local area, which in my case is Nes in Viken. The designed should be based on six steps from this week’s learning material:
1. You need to establish goals
The main goal should be that it’s inviting to people. This website is THE place where visitors decide if they want to come there or not. It should be open, inviting, have short headings and large images.
2. Who is your audience
The audience are travelers, or people who wonder if they should move to Nes. It should be a clean design, give room for the images, and provide information about local sights, central area etc.
3. What is your brand’s image?
There are not that many things that really stand out in Nes. There are the church ruins, a dam, some museums, a beach and forests. The image should be comforting, open and maybe make you feel like going outside for a hike.
4. Solve the problem
To showcase what Nes has to offer, there should be a lot of space on the front page dedicated to the sights and places to visit. This can be done by using a slideshow with images covering the entire page.
5. Measure your results
This step is to check if your website achieves the goals it has set. As this is intended for a final code website, I will skip this step.
6. Always look for little improvements
This is a follow up step from step 5. Here you take the analysis and statistics that you gathered, and use that to change the design to get more visitors, and basically make the site work as intended.
